Malleable (One-Piece) Prosthesis

A malleable one-piece prosthesis, often referred to as a penile prosthesis, is a type of surgical implant used in men with erectile dysfunction (sexual dysfunction). This prosthesis is placed inside the penis to provide rigidity and is used during sexual activity.

How is it done?

Surgery: The procedure is typically performed during a surgical operation. The surgeon makes a small incision at the base of the penis (in the groin area) and creates a suitable space for placing the prosthesis.

Prosthesis placement: The prosthesis is inserted into the penis. This prosthesis is usually made of silicone or a similar material and has the ability to change shape, being flexible and malleable.

Post-procedure: After the surgery, stitches are applied, and a certain amount of time is allowed for the penis to heal. Typically, the patient can resume sexual activity within a few weeks after the surgery.

Why is it done?

Malleable one-piece prostheses are used to address erectile dysfunction in men who have difficulty achieving an erection. These types of prostheses are preferred in men who cannot achieve an erection or who do not respond to other treatments.

Inflatable (Three-Piece) Prosthesis

An inflatable (three-piece) prosthesis is a type of surgical implant used in men with erectile dysfunction (impotence). This prosthesis is inserted into the penis and is used to achieve an erection during sexual activity. Being a three-piece prosthesis, it consists of a pump, a fluid reservoir, and cylinders placed inside the penis.

How is it done?

Surgery: The procedure is typically performed during a surgical operation. The surgeon makes a small incision at the base of the penis (in the groin area) and creates a suitable space for placing the prosthesis.

Prosthesis placement: The prosthesis is inserted into the penis. The three-piece inflatable prosthesis consists of cylinders placed inside the penis, a fluid reservoir, and a pump placed in the scrotum (sac). The cylinders are placed inside the penis, the fluid reservoir is placed in the abdominal area, and the pump is placed in the scrotum.

Post-procedure: After the surgery, stitches are applied, and a certain amount of time is allowed for the penis to heal. Typically, the patient can resume sexual activity within a few weeks after the surgery. To achieve an erection, the patient squeezes the pump in the scrotum, which pumps fluid into the cylinders. Once sexual activity is completed, pressing a button on the pump releases the fluid from the cylinders, returning the penis to its natural state.
